You Waited...and I Failed!
You Waited...and I Failed!

This blog is a response to “We Are Waiting For You To Fail” by one of my favorite people, Blaine Hogan.
It’s time for my true confession: I have a really hard time failing. And when I do fail, I’m really hard on myself. A bunch of stuff plays into this:
- perfectionism - pride - fear of disappointing - etc.
BUT! In response to Blaine’s blog, I am choosing to celebrate my mistakes of this past weekend, move through it and say, “Hallelujah, thank You Jesus that I am not perfect. Thank You that I can not do it on my own. Thank You that Your grace is sufficient for me!”
So as my first act in confession, and for a hearty laugh, here is the list of mistakes I made this weekend while leading worship at Willow:
1.Didn’t read the package and strung my acoustic guitar with electric strings
2.Tripped on the floor light onstage before “In Christ Alone”
3.Woke up too late to fix my hair for the 9am service. Had little to no makeup on.
4.Said “I don’t know about you” instead of “I don’t know about me”, and continued to stutter through the welcome
5.I ate four candy bars on my drive home
There you have it. Ah... freedom from living up to perfection. Do you need to be released from ‘having it all together?’ Go for it. I dare you.
