A few weeks ago we taught my song “New Creation” at Willow’s weekend services. It is a song we do on Wednesdays but this was the first time we led it on a weekend. I was joined by my music friends: Rene LeDesma, Sharon Irving, Izzy Hermosillo, Ron DeSouza, Nathan Ykema and Jonathan Fries.

I’m thankful we were able to play this song for a couple of reasons. First, it is so meaningful to a songwriter to know a meek little song written in the privacy of personal worship can translate to a community.  Second, the message of this song is straight from scripture, 2 Corinthians 5:17. I hope it is of encouragement that in Christ we are a new creation. The things that hold us (habits, addictions, negativity, etc) can all be redeemed and restored to a place of light through new life in Christ.
